the remaining 5: Eva (holding brother John's cremains), Cly, Al, Joan & MidgeI (and my siblings) lost a brother, Johnny, the baby (64) on June 23 of 2009, we celebrated his life on July 3-4-5-6 at our annual family reunion at my sister Cly's home in Whitewater, WI.
Paul and I drove down to Whitewater on Thurs. the 2nd. We celebrated a bunch of things this weekend besides Brother John's life.
We had: Sister Cly's birthday, Cly's grandson Owen James' birthday, Sister Eva's birthday, Sister Midge's return to the lower 48 after about 30 years, Nephew Bryan's marriage to Stephanie, AND the 4th of July. I think that about covers the celebrations.
None of my kids could get away for the reunion this year so this will be the 1st they will see Aunt Midge in all these years.
As usual, there was a lot of food, a lot of drink and this year some games of chance :-), in the form of a dice game called 6-5-4, fun!
Eric made the kids happy by dragging them around the lake on tube things.
Caroline kept Dee's "garage sale" tradition alive, but this year it was for the little kids. They traded clothes and toys etc.
We ALL ate WAY too much, but what the heck!
We were going to try for a whole family photo, no way to get all these people to stand still for that, so I did one of each family, MUCH simpler!
A good time was had by all, as the saying goes and another "Rhodes Riot" is (literally) under our belts.
A final note, we will bury Baby Brother John at 11 am on Friday July 10, 2009, here in Hastings, with my Mother.
